DIY Artwork

After getting a fresh coat of paint, I of course have been doing a little rearranging. I decided that I wanted something different on my mantle in the living room.

So while cruising through Pinterest, I was inspired by this artwork....

And of course I thought "I can do that!"

So I took my happy self to Joann's (with coupons in hand) and bought four 18 inch canvas' and some paint. I wanted to do a inky navy blue instead of yellow to tie in the blue in the kitchen and I just like blue. I love yellow also but just wouldn't work in the living room.

I think mantles can be easily changed. If you are the type that likes different stuff like me then the mantle can be your friend. You can add art, mirrors, pictures of your family etc. 

Here is the finished look

I basically traced out the curve I wanted on cardboard and used that as a template on the canvas. It was a little tedious but cost about $35.  

Got some other things going on around our house so stay tuned.
