Oscar Favorites

Again, didn't see too many dresses I would die for but here are some of my favorites (and I may add in a few of my least favorite).

 She is just adorable
Hailee Steinfeld

 Simple and Sexy
Jennifer Lawerence

Michelle Williams looks very chic. I think the pixie cut makes the whole ensemble.

This was one of my favorites just because it was different.
Mila Kunis

Have to love Gwyneth. She definitely knows her style.

Natalie Portman glowed

I just like this one because I have short hair and there aren't too many options!
Scarlett Johansen

I love Reese Witherspoon but was not impressed with this look.
The dress is not horrible but I think it is the hair that reminds me of "Elle" from Legally Blonde.

Who was your favorite? Did I miss anyone?

Good Hair Thursday: Jennifer Aniston Part 2

So apparently Jennifer Aniston has cut off her hair again! I thought I remembered in a magazine article she stated she wouldn't cut her hair short again. I guess she is like every other woman in America. She also said she hated "the Rachel." What?

She debuted the new cut at the Madrid premiere of her new movie Just Go With It

I love the new style. What do you think?

Pretty Preppy

I came across Land's End Canvas a while back and ended up using one of their totes for my son's diaper bag. I have been so happy with it!

Canvas is a little more contemporary than the traditional Land's End. Looks like it is geared more towards late 20's +. That's me!

They are loaded with basic tees in array of colors, shorts, denim, totes and sandals.

Everyone needs a Tee like this and in every color!

Basic Black Skirt (comes in white too)

I want this tote!

Tips for a Perfect Fake Tan

I was not blessed with naturally sun kissed skin and I am very jealous of those of you that were. I used to bake in the sun all summer trying to get a tan. I never got very far. So now that I am getting older, I don't want the skin damage or wrinkles so I have resorted to "fake" tans.

I have tried sprays, gels, Mystic Tan, Versa. Some have worked well and some not as well. I have never had anything crazy happen while using these products (remember Ross in the spray tanner on Friends?) You should always do a test spot before you try any product. So don't be afraid, go for it!

Here are some tips on prepping your skin from Jimmy Jimmy Coco, Hollywood Tanning Guru, in the March issue of Instyle.

Fair Skin:

Mistakes show up more on fair skin so test a few different product out in a hidden place on your body to see which one matches the best. He also says "Pales skin goes orange the quickest, so avoid products with orange or yellow number 4."

These are what he recommends for Fair Skin

Jimmy Jimmy Coco Blast Tanning Spray $25

Medium Skin:

A seven to eight percent DHA concentrate works best on medium skin, according to Coco.

Here are Coco's recommendations for Medium Skin

Dark Skin:

Dark skin obviously need a lot a self tanner so avoid going too dark. Mix with moisturizer to use on the knees and elbows and concentrate on the upper arms and chest area for a natural sun kissed look. Self Tanner is also great to disguise tan lines on dark skin.

Tips for applying
  • exfoliate first, see here
  • self tanner works best on clean dry skin, avoid moisturizer before applying
  • start with your feet and move upwards
  • to correct mistakes try lemon juice or jump into a hot tub with chlorine
  • Use sparingly on hands and feet
  • wash hands thoroughly after or use gloves
  • always read product instructions

I like using the airbrush sprays, I think they are easiest and dry fast. I also like the Versa at Planet Tan (Automatic Spray Tan). I use the lightest one they have. I have never tried a spray tan done by a person. Maybe that will be my next adventure.

Good Hair Thursday: Bangs

Bangs have been in for a while now and they don't seem to be going anywhere. I have had side bangs for about 6 years and don't think I could do without them as I have a rather large forehead! I have tried the straight across bangs for a little while and I liked them and always think about doing them again. I think cutting bangs is an easy way to change it up without making too big of a commitment. They do require more frequent trimming.

Here is a How-To on bang trimming although I DO NOT recommend cutting bangs if you don't have them already.

Here some examples of side bangs and straight across bangs.

De-Winterizing Your Skin

Continuing with my "Spring Theme", I wanted to share with you how to de-winterize your skin. Let's get it good and glowing for shorts season. It will be here before we know it.

Basically what you need to do is exfoliate and moisturize. Your skin has probably been dry throughout the winter because of the dry air and heaters. So you have probably built up a nice little layer of dead skin. Sounds nice, doesn't it? So scrubbing off that layer will bring back that gorgeous skin that has been hibernating all winter.

Here are some suggestions for products:

I found this one at InStyle.com and you can buy it here
Mix the powder with water and you have scrub gor your whole body!

Also a suggestion from InStyle.com
Olay ProX Advanced Cleansing System for $30 which is a lot cheaper than some other gadgets I have seen out there.

I personally love this face exfoliant from Dermalogica
This is also a powder that you mix with a little water and scrub your face. It is very gentle so you can use it everyday.

This is an "oldie but a goodie" and cheap! I use this all over but just a couple of times a week.

This is my favorite moisturizer! It really last all day. After having a baby my skin got dry and this helps. You can get it at Walmart now for around $14. It is worth it!

I use Aquaphor Healing Ointment on my lips. You can't forget those! You can also use a soft toothbrush to gently exfoliate.

My next "Spring Theme" will be tips for using Self Tanners so get to scrubbing because Step 1 is exfoliating!
