So back to the chandelier, a long time ago I was in the sale room at Anthropologie and saw this awesome chandelier made of rope. I then saw some similar ones at Restoration Hardware.
So a light bulb went off (sorry), I can do that with my boring, came with the house, wrought iron chandelier in my dining room.
Here is what I used:
E6000 Glue
Jute Cording
Clips (to hold cord in place)
So I got to wrapping...
Here are a few tips for those of you wanting to give it a try:
- I tried not to cut the cord so I wasn't piecing them together mid way.
- Use clips or clothes pins to hold the end in place while the glue dries
- You don't need a ton of glue. I would line one side with glue then wrap the cord tight around the arm of the chandeller. The glue would spread itself around all sides of the arm.
- Pace yourself. I thought this would be a quick and easy project. I ended up doing it in sections because I would get tired.
Here is how it turned out
Now I am thinking my dining room needs a new wall color. Grey or White, maybe?
Happy Friday! Check out I Love That's Facebook Page to keep up with all thats going on around here.

You did a beautiful job-just wanted you to know I'm featuring it on my blog tomorrow!
Hi, I just found your blog! All I can say, is wow, what a lot of work went into that chandelier! And, it goes really well with the chairs in your dining room as well! And...I just became your newest follower, yay! I would SO appreciate you following back. Thanks so much!
Looks awesome! I had a floor lamp, gold brass color, that the previous owners left behind. I was about to donate it to Goodwill when I saw a rope lamp on a catalog. So I wrapped it in jute. Yes, it took waaay longer than I expected it. Once you are turning that rope around such a thin piece it seems like you don't go quite fast. I like it a lot now but it was a back breaker. :p
I have a hideous gold brass chandelier on my dinning room (left behind from previous owners also). I was trying to think of what to do with it. I might rope it. :)
That looks fantastic! What an amazing makeover!
WOW! Looks Fantastic, you nailed it:)What a wonderful new chandy!!
Ahmazing. Love it. With your woven chairs? perfect.
I also admire your determination. wowza. :) Have a great weekend!
Where did you buy the chandelier? Thanks!
Do you think you could do the same technique with a ceiling fan?
Robyn- I am not sure if you could do it to a fan. It may throw off the balance. That is a good question!
Love your blog and this project with jute - so fun and summery! Just wanted to let you know I featured you in my roundup of jute craft projects here. Feel free to check it out if you want and hope you like it! : )
