It is a big piece of furniture in a small space. So I got the idea of painting it lighter so it would blend more into our white walls. As you may know, I tend to ponder over things for a while. This project was no different. Then add in surgery and a cancer diagnosis and it was months before I was ready to actually paint it. I did know I wanted to paint it a light gray. After looking at many grays for our upstairs bathroom I actually chose a color pretty quickly. I loved Martha Stewarts Sharkey Gray but it didn't look good in the bathroom. So without hesitation, I went up to Home Depot and got a gallon of it. I was pretty proud of myself.
My wonderful husband sanded it down for me and I painted a coat of adhesive primer so the paint would stick.
Here is the finish product. I am no furniture painting expert but I think it looks pretty good. And my favorite part is decorating around it.
Paint: Martha Stewart Sharkey Gray
Framed Fabric: Ikea Fabric, Frame from Hobbly Lobby see how I did it here
Lamp and Shade: Target (the base is on sale now for $14.98)
Other knick knacks came from Antique Stores, mom, memaw and things I just had lying around.
